Client Type: Private Equity Investment Platform
Industry: Private Equity / Financial Services
Business Context: The firm needed stronger portfolio visibility across multiple operating companies in order to support executive review, track performance more consistently, and improve follow-through on key priorities. As the portfolio grew more complex, leadership needed a more structured oversight model that could support faster and more reliable decision-making.
Challenge: Reporting was inconsistent across portfolio companies, review cycles were too manual, and executive visibility into performance, risk, and execution progress was slower than needed. Existing reporting mechanisms made it difficult to compare information across companies or identify issues early enough to intervene effectively.
Why It Mattered: In a portfolio environment, delayed or inconsistent information weakens the quality and speed of executive decision-making. Without a more disciplined oversight structure, leadership risked spending too much time reconciling information and too little time driving action across the portfolio.
Our Approach: ICG designed a more structured portfolio oversight model that improved how information was gathered, reviewed, and escalated. We introduced standardized reporting expectations, created executive dashboards, and established a clearer cadence for reviewing portfolio performance across companies. The work also included support for adoption and consistency at the operating company level so the model could function reliably in practice, not just on paper.
Impact: Portfolio review time decreased by 50 percent, transparency improved across four portfolio companies, and executive leadership gained faster access to more consistent performance insight for decision-making, prioritization, and follow-through.
